My mom has a G35x and it drives very close to the Z. It's a great car but sprung a bit to soft in the rear. That makes the car feel sloppy but this could be fixed easily with a set of Bilstein shocks out back. If you're going cheap...Consider a BMW e34 525i. It has many driving virtues of a Z and can be had for around $3k The same positive road and steering feel with a great 5 speed. They make turbo kits for the M50 engine and a popular mod is to drop in M3 engine from the same year. Mid 90's 525i's with the 5speed or GM slush box are considered bullet proof.
